China Tightens Oversight Of Online News Content, Requiring Private Capital To ExitMay 4, 2017
China has issued a new set of regulations to tighten oversight of online news and a wide range of online content, requiring all online news institutions, including those who publish, edit and share news, to obtain publishing licenses.
News editing and production are required to be conducted separately from business operations at online news organizations. In addition, non-public capital is not allowed to be involved in the news editing businesses, according to the new rules, which are to be effective on June 1. Read more…
